I asked my friend, John Stewart, if I could place his article
and some background for you folks to better understand
who John Stewart is.
I am putting his portfolio, so to speak, here with his own words.
John is a great friend, a great American, a great soldier,
and a great veteran.
I am proud to have him as a friend and fellow veteran.
High School dropout entered service at 17 and now college grad.
Still dumb as a rock though.
26 years 9 months military service Air Force.
Retired as Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt)
(E-9 for you groundpounders)
Member VFW. Post Chaplain VFW Post 9877
(yeah I know that is hard to believe)
Member Air Commando Society
Member American Legion
Started out as radio operator. Spent not quite 20 years
overseas mostly in support
of other military branches or
state department activities. Extensive work in
support of Joint Service Special Operations,
as an actual member of Special
Operations units
(e.g., 7th Special Operations Squadron flying
the Combat Talon),
or in various combat communications units.
Mostly dealt with just about
every kind of
electronics and communications known to man.
Served with
United Nations Peacekeeping Forces
and as an advisor to various foreign
military units.
Hundreds of deployments to Middle East, Africa, Northern
and Southern Europe during "real world" operations
and other scenarios.
Assigned to numerous operations in direct support of the President,
Secretary of Defense, JCS, and other
State Department officials.
Many,
many classified operations and if I
told you about them I'd have to kill you.
Selected to serve as an enlisted commander at units in
Italy and Turkey as
replacement for
positions previously held by commissioned officers.
Married to German woman who can kick my ass. 39 years of ass kicking.
Received 47 awards and decs from three branches of service.
Father of Green Beret who just returned
from 3rd Iraq tour and is former
resident of Kearney.
Father of local resident, Sylvia Mishou,
middle school teacher and father-in-law
of Robert Mishou, Kearney High teacher.
Retired in 1989 at Langley Virginia and personally
recognized by
President Reagan for service.
At time of retirement was dual hatted
as
Superintendent of C4 Operations
and Senior Enlisted Advisor
(same as a Command Sgt Major) for a
small Command.
F_____g desk job and I hated it.
Since military retirement was a Corporate Information
Systems Manager until
health problems.
Since then have been doing volunteer work
with various
hospitals (including the Kearney hospital)
and VFW organizations and editor
of several
publications for veterans or hospital volunteers.
Webmaster for
VFW Posts and others.
